Online poker – tips

October 10th, 2014

With worldwide ease of internet access growing daily, so too are the number of players playing poker online. From No-Limit Texas Hold ‘Em to Pot-Limit Omaha, all variations of the game are available at the click of a button.

Here are our tips for playing online poker:

Begin by playing low stakes until you are completely comfortable

No matter how accomplished a player you are in home games or in the casino, playing online is a complete culture change. The time taken to act, the levels of aggression and many other aspects are completely different to what you will be used to. It is best to start low to get used to internet culture and players.

Manage your time, as well as your money

Unlike organising home games or arranging a casino trip, it is incredibly easy to find a game online 24/7. As such, you need to be disciplined in your time-management; employers may not appreciate you falling asleep after having been awake until 5am playing in a tournament online!

Only gamble what you can afford to lose

Advice that is not just limited to online poker. Gambling should be a fun (and sometimes lucrative) hobby – in only putting into the pot what you can afford to lose, you ensure that poker is an enjoyable and entertaining pastime. A pastime that will hopefully see you win plenty of extra cash!
