Poker as a game is meant to be enjoyed by everyone, and nowadays you don’t even need to go to a casino to experience it first-hand, you can play for a low stake or even for free.

The game is incredibly popular and continues to grow, but getting started can be a bit tricky. There are plenty of places online to get you started on the rules and basic strategies. Before you start playing get to know the game, click here.

Texas Hold’em is easily the most popular version of poker, with millions of players worldwide. The rules are as follows: each of the players gets two cards that are dealt face-down along with five face-up cards on the board. The first three cards are shown during the second round of betting, called the flop. In the next round, the other card is revealed, leaving the last card to be revealed in the final betting round. This variation is so popular because it has the easiest mechanics to understand, and learning the strategies and nuances of the game is much easier than in other variants.

Omaha is also one of the popular poker variations. Although it is almost the same as Texas Hold’em, instead of getting 2 cards, the players get 4 cards. This of course means that the strategy is completely different from the other variation, meaning that familiarity with Texas Hold’em doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll be successful in Omaha.

Seven Card Stud used to be the most played variant before Texas Hold’em got popularized. The game is dictated by partial information, such as being able to see some of the cards in the hands of your opponent.

These are just some of the poker variants among a few others that happen to be the most played around the world.
